View from a Window

Not to be deterred from enjoying the outdoors because of inclement weather, this summer I sketched these views of the lake and trees from my favorite summer hideout.

Doing so reminded me of a recent visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam where I was amazed to  find out Van Gogh painted as many as 150 canvases from his window during a one year confinement in an asylum. Included is his masterpiece The Starry Night.

Now it appears window views are a trend as Covid 19 confinement has inspired the Window Swap project, which feature window views from around the world.

What is the view from you window? I hope this pause from our normal routine can be seen as a welcome time out to view the saving graces of our natural world.

Make a sketch, do a painting, take a picture of the view from your window.
Stay Safe the Sunshine is coming!
